Synopsis

"Generals Braxton and Bragg and William S. Rosecrans met in battle for the first time at the end of December 1862 in the Battle of Stones River. In this talk, let's explore their differing command styles and how it impacted the outcome of the war in the West."

Biography

A descendant of five Union veterans of the Civil War, Dan Masters has studied the conflict for more than 25 years with a focus on the war in the western theater. He has written 10 books, including Hell by the Acre: A Narrative History of the Stones River campaign scheduled to be released through Savas Beatie in the summer of 2024. He also operates a popular Civil War blog (Dan Masters Civil War Chronicles) and his work has been featured in several magazines including North & South and America's Civil War. He lives in Perrysburg, Ohio with his wife Amy and five of his six children.
